Hampstead is one of the most beautiful parts of London and one that fully retains its village origins. Our Hampstead Walking Tour takes takes us around the narrow lanes and vast open spaces. It’s easy to forget you’re in London at all.
The area around Hampstead has ancient origins but the village itself really came to prominence in Georgian times due to the nature of its health giving well and its lofty location above what was then smelly old London.

Hampstead is “London’s Favourite Village” and characterised by its iconic landmarks, natural heathland, historic homes, theatres, diverse and vibrant high street and restaurants and pubs.
It is an area long favoured by academics, writers and artists. It’s also home to many of the most famous names in the British media.
We will explore the quaint alleyways and marvel at the splendid Georgian houses whilst learning something of the history and culture of Hampstead village and of some of the famous figures who lived and died here. Maybe take a few photos for Instagram or grab something nice to eat at boutique establishments. You definitely can’t miss one of the best views over Central London.
Hampstead is often seen onscreen in shows such as the hit Netflix Ricky Gervais show, Afterlife. Even Bridget Jones lives there in the new film and we go past both their houses on the tour.

If you liked Hampstead then try…
The tour starts and finishes at Hampstead Underground Station which can whisk you back to Central London in minutes. That’s if you don’t want to try out one of the splendid pubs for lunch first! Other fancy village areas tour we enjoy is the Stanmore Walking Tour, Mayfair and Belgravia Tour and for something seriously funky the Secrets of Spitalfields Tour. Both the Lambeth Walk and Mayflower Tour concentrate on fascinating less visited areas just south of the Thames. You don’t have to be a book lover to enjoy our Bloomsbury Literature Tour but how about the original London neighbourhood? The City of London Tour takes you to the Roman Square Mile. Full of skyscrapers and ancient lanes and alleys but with only 3,000 people living there we will have it all to ourselves and likely not see another tourist.
