About This Tour

The real Scotland behind the series — castles, villages and landscapes exactly as you know them

This very special private tour is for all fans of Outlander. Picked up at your Edinburgh hotel, you’ll spend a full day travelling across Central Scotland visiting the actual locations used in filming — the real-world places that became Castle Leoch, Cranesmuir, Inverness, and Lallybroch.

As you’d expect from all our tours, this is completely private — just your group and your dedicated guide and driver — so you can take as much time as you like at each location and ask every question you’ve ever had.

🏰
Aberdour Castle — the Monastery Where Claire and Murtagh bring Jamie to recover. Kitchen and Long Gallery both used in filming.
🏘️
Falkland village — Inverness, 1946 Mrs Baird’s B&B, H. Allingham’s Music Shop, Campbell’s Cafe — and the real café that opened after filming!
⚗️
Culross — Cranesmuir The beautiful village where Geillis and Arthur Duncan lived — utterly unchanged and enchanting.
🗡️
Doune Castle — Castle Leoch The real castle behind the fictional Leoch — steeped in genuine Jacobite history too.
🏡
Midhope Castle — Lallybroch The real-world home of Jamie Fraser — the most emotional stop on the entire tour.

The Detail

Falkland’s real-life Campbell’s Coffee House — the ultimate life-imitates-art moment

Falkland village in the Lomond Hills doubled as 1946 Inverness. You’ll see the Covenanters Hotel — Mrs Baird’s B&B — set against the Bruce Fountain and Falkland Palace. The parish church became Dalneigh Parish Church. The Violin Shop became H. Allingham’s Music Shop. And Lomond Pharmacy became Campbell’s Cafe.

Best of all: as soon as filming wrapped, a real Campbell’s Coffee House opened in the village. Life imitating art in the most delightful way possible.

At Doune Castle — the exterior of Castle Leoch — fact truly meets fiction: the area around it saw some of the bloodiest events of the real Jacobite uprisings, and your guide will tell you every juicy detail.
