57 Consecutive Nights of Bombing

The scars are still there — and this tour finds every one of them

Between 7th September 1940 and 11th May 1941, London suffered under the most concentrated aerial bombardment the world had ever seen. The German Luftwaffe bombed the city for 57 consecutive nights, killing more than 43,000 civilians, destroying over a million homes and leaving whole neighbourhoods in ruins. It was called the Blitz — and it changed London, and Londoners, forever.

Much has been rebuilt. But if you know where to look, the evidence is still there — in ruined churches left deliberately as memorials, in original wartime signs still attached to shelter walls, in the only surviving restored anti-aircraft gun in London. This private tour finds all of it, and tells the stories of the extraordinary people who lived through it.

The ruined bombed-out Christ Church One of the most haunting sights in London — a church destroyed in the Blitz and left deliberately as a ruin and memorial. Walls still standing, roof long gone, ivy creeping over the stones. A place of extraordinary atmosphere.
💂
The only surviving restored Ack-Ack gun in London Possibly the only one remaining in the whole of the UK — a fully restored anti-aircraft gun that once defended the East London docks from the Luftwaffe. An extraordinary survival.
🚨
A public air-raid shelter with original wartime signs The outside of a public air-raid shelter in Westminster — with the original wartime signs still intact and in place, exactly as they were during the bombing. The kind of detail that sends a chill down the spine.
🔥
Memorials to the firefighters, civilians & defenders The men and women who fought the fires, ran the shelters, kept London running and refused to give in. Their memorials are scattered across the city — and every one of them has a story worth telling.

Places the big bus tours could never hope to reach

This is not a tour of the famous sites. The Churchill War Rooms and the Imperial War Museum are wonderful — but they’re well-known. This tour takes you somewhere different entirely: to the quiet corners of the city where the Blitz left its most profound marks, and where the stories of ordinary Londoners who refused to be broken are still written into the fabric of the buildings around them.

The ruined church. The Ack-Ack gun. The shelter signs. The firefighters’ memorial. These are places where the history is not behind glass — it is right in front of you, unmediated and deeply moving. No large group could ever navigate the lanes and alleys that lead to them.

🎖️ “London can take it” — the defiant spirit of the Blitz is one of the most extraordinary chapters in the history of any city. This tour brings it to life.
