A short car ride away from Hatfield is Knebworth House, which is of an altogether different style.  It’s imposing grandeur was notably used in the Batman series of films as the home of Bruce Wayne.  However, the real-life history of this exquisite home is much more interesting.

Knebworth House and Country Park have been in the hands of the Lytton family since 1490, and they have seen monarchs come and go.  One of Knebworths most famous resident is the Victorian writer Edward Bulwar Lytton who amongst other things wrote the phrase “The pen is mightier than the sword”.

These two houses with their marvellous grounds complement each other wonderfully and make for an unforgettable day out.
