Secret London Tour

There is more to London than Buckingham Palace, Big Ben and Trafalgar Square, iconic and incredible as they may be.  This is a very different sort of tour and will open your eyes to a London that most tourists never see and which most locals never notice.  Welcome to our Secret London Tour.

Having met you at your hotel or at Temple Tube Station for this private walking tour.  First up we will see the ancient faces of the Lions that stand overlooking the Thames.  Actually a clever little water gauge to see when London will flood  and literally go down the drains.

See the farting lamp!

A little walk away we will see a historic survivor and extremely rare example of a gas lamp post.  People often joke that people who eat too many beans or sprouts might accidentally light their rear ends on fire and here is a lamp that runs off the methane from Londons stinky sewers.

We will visit a house that is identical to 10 Downing Street, home of the Prime Minister and learn of the ghost that haungts a tunnel by the luxiourous Savoy Hotel before walking through some of the oldest streets in London which houses a secret tunnel where King Charles II used to meet with his lover.

Other sights we will visit include the narrowest street in London, best to visit that one before eating…. See the old water clock and a church that was mistakenly built back to front. Nearby is a beautiful alley which was the inspiration for Diagon Alley in Harry Potter.

See the very first modern pavement/sidewalk.

After visiting the very centre spot of London where all the distance measurements throughout not just Britain but the old Empire and Commonwealth nations are measured from, we will visit the old and quirky Craig’s Court where you will learn about Whitehall Palace was destroyed by fire and of the enterprising aristoricrat who bought up land next to the old palace in expectation that the Royals would soon move back in.   Craig’s Court was also where something incredible was invented centuries ago and which we all use today, every day of our lives.
